Why I'm standing
I care deeply about my community and want it to be a safe, vibrant and caring place to live. A city where business is supported, the environment is protected and the community thrives. I'm very concerned about rates affordability, as council's plans are unreasonable and unrealistic. I've worked hard to address this, but further work is needed. We need to make some changes to get us back on a financially sustainable and responsible path.
About me
I listen to my community and ensure my decisions reflect the views of my community. I consider and advocate for those who are vulnerable. I'm honest and hard working. I've promoted transparency of decision-making and accountability. I've been proactive in promoting a more financially responsible pathway. I do what I say I will do. I am consistent with delivering on the commitments I make at election time and will continue to do this.
My priorities
- Ensure that rates are affordable and that increases are capped to average local wage increases.
- Assist to get council back on a financially sustainable path that is validated by Audit NZ.
- Ensure that all services are effective and deliver good outcomes for the community.
