Porirua City Council
The Porirua City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of ten councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). four councillors will be elected from the Pāuatahanui ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing
Porirua has strong communities, a stunning environment, and people who care. But there are challenges: rates pressure, ageing infrastructure, and a loss of trust in council decision-making. I know we can do better and have the council and community experience to create the change needed.
About me
I have lived in Porirua for 30 years, raised a family here and have been active in local organisations. I worked for Porirua Council including 3 years on the executive management team. I have leadership and governance experience and believe I can make a useful contribution.
My priorities
- Strengthen partnerships with local communities and improve resident engagement with council.
- Ensure environmental protection and harbour restoration are central to decision making.
- Improve the financial sustainability of council and residents' confidence in financial management.
