Porirua City Council
The Porirua City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of ten councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). four councillors will be elected from the Pāuatahanui ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. I have been a councillor for six years, and we have some great momentum. I want to carry on being a voice for people to get the best out of our council without losing the quality.
About me
I have experience and am active in the community daily. I love this place, but nowhere is perfect and we always need to keep asking why and how else this can be done.
My priorities
- Invest prudently in infrastructure by trimming wasteful spending without reducing quality.
- Maintain quality of public assets for all to enjoy.
- Adapt a meaningful engagement process to get real outcomes for communities.
