The Waitai Coastal-Burwood-Linwood Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Christchurch City Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of nine members: six members elected by voters, including Two members from your area, and three members from the Christchurch City council. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Advocate for better public transport by providing routes that best serve vulnerable residents in the eastern suburbs and connect them to the rest of the city.

    Create safer walking and cycling paths with well-lit footpaths and dedicated cycle lanes that link schools, shops and community spaces.

    Prioritise roading infrastructure to reduce congestion, improve road safety and ensure resilience against flooding and extreme weather.

  • Get Paywave on the bus networks to ensure that irregular and one-off users have access to the system.

    Promote safe cycling and e-scootering in Burwood with dedicated bike lanes on major roads that do not hinder traffic lanes.

  • Ensure a sensible mix of transport options that are practical and affordable.

    Repair physical spaces such as roading, footpaths and bridges so they are accessible to all.

    Stop speed bumps being put at intersections where there are traffic lights. Previously voted against this and will continue to do so.
