The Waitai Coastal-Burwood-Linwood Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Christchurch City Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of nine members: six members elected by voters, including Two members from your area, and three members from the Christchurch City council. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Continue to work closely with Māori and ethnic communities to ensure that their voices, values and aspirations are reflected in council decision-making.

    Improve transparency and efficiency within council operations while supporting fair wages and good working conditions for council staff.

    Strengthen engagement by making it easier for residents to have a voice through community meetings, online platforms and outreach in neighbourhood spaces.

  • Ensure that the city council and community board are accountable for the decisions that affect residents.

  • Continue to ensure consultation information is shared and feedback is taken note of by staff and the community board.

    Continue to question CCC staff recommendations and push back on them as required.

  • Create dedicated roles on the community board for an indigenous rep and a disability rep and ensure all ages are represented.

    Ensure council staff are all on the living wage, firstly get advice and then advocate for it in the second term.

    Make it easier for council elections to happen online with final results available on election day instantly.
