Mayor of Dunedin

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the city and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

I am concerned about the direction our current mayor is taking the city and I want change. Business owners do not feel listened to. The arts sector is disillusioned with inaction on venues and many are trying to recover from the effects of Covid-19. People are sick of having things pushed on them like closing streets, reducing carparks and making it difficult to get around our city. People want to be listened to.

About me

I am a Dunedin City Councillor. I grew up in Dunedin and I am passionate about our city and want a city that is better for my children and yours. I have tried to be a voice for residents. Advocating for issues, questioning decisions and voting against motions that, in my opinion, were not best for our city. I have worked with other councillors for the betterment of our city.

My priorities
  1. Help businesses to recover and grow. I want council to be more business friendly and innovative.
  2. Support our arts sector to recover and flourish. I want live bands playing in our bars and cafes.
  3. George Street needs to be two way and the one way, near the hospital, needs to remain one way.
