Mayor of Dunedin

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the city and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Dunedin City Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

I'm standing as I want change. I think Dunedin needs a leader who can rebuild trust, focus on action and accountability plus be a strong figurehead for the city. I want us to be the most liveable city in NZ.

About me

My values are trust and respect. I'm a people person with a successful career crossing tourism, heritage and conservation which has brought me a great skill set, including in leadership roles. I'm an intelligently analytical person, which helped me in my economics degree and to be successful in business. This skill is useful at council as we have so many complex issues which need investigating, weighing up options, and then making decisions.

My priorities
  1. Spark economic development by refreshing our vision, goals, actions – this will lead city prosperity.
  2. Establish a Climate Change Plan because we need to have a sensible action-oriented plan now!
  3. Adopt a City Marketing Plan to ensure Dunedin is top of mind for visitors, government and influencers.
