Mayor of Dunedin

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the city and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Dunedin City Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

I am passionate about a beautiful Ōtepoti for all, inclusive and accessible. I find great satisfaction in local community initiatives and development. Communication and engagement are my strengths. I coordinate the North Coast Voluntary Community Emergency Response group working with Civil Defence. I am passionate about resilience for our communities. My governance background gives me a good understanding of how council works. I look forward to serving the people of Dunedin.

About me

Born and raised in the Dunedin area. Currently the Chair of Keep Dunedin Beautiful and Deputy Chair of Keep New Zealand Beautiful. I have served six years as an elected member of the Waikouaiti Coast Community Board, elected zone representative for community board LGNZ, I sit on a Otago Advisory committee for FENZ, office bearer on many committees, events coordinator, and marriage celebrant. I am also a carer, supporting people in their homes (aged to disabled).

My priorities
  1. Wellbeing focus – government reforms will change the way council operates, opportunity to focus on wellbeing.
  2. DCC taking a strategic approach, considering social, cultural, environmental and economic wellbeing.
  3. Strengthen resilience in our communities – risk reduction and readiness focus. Supporting vulnerable.
