Mayor of Dunedin

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the city and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Dunedin City Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

Because Dunedin needs a Mayor of the centre not the far left, one who supports cycling and trams rather than cars and buses, one who can stand up for themselves instead of acceding to every trendy policy around. One who will not abandon women and one who will do something about transport rather than just virtue signal by declaring climate emergencies. And one who will attend to the debt and unnecessary expenses of the council.

About me

I have no allegiances to any particular group in Dunedin so I am the best candidate to negotiate through all the vested interests while making sure that the well-being of all of the citizens of Dunedin are the prime focus.

My priorities
  1. Active transport and trams/ferries. Dunedin had this up until 1954. Far cheaper than cars, more healthy.
  2. Make sure that women and girls decide themselves who to allow into their facilities. Because democratic.
  3. Encourage removal of masks, never mandate vaccines ever again in council facilities. Not about health.
