Mayor of Dunedin

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the city and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Dunedin City Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

Kia ora, I'm running for election because I believe we need a different kind of leadership. I think we need a new perspective at the table. I'm concerned that people aren't being listened to and that not all groups are being represented. I believe there needs to be more work into cooperation between the council, staff and the public. I love Dunedin, but as a council, there's always more work to be done.

About me

I'm prepared to listen to everybody, I am currently studying a politics degree, so I understand legislation. I've held several governance roles throughout university, and I currently sit on a board of studies. I'm willing to put in the work to see and understand what issues there are. I've been involved with community groups for the past few years and have always wanted to do my part to make the world a better place.

My priorities
  1. Increase consultation with public to make sure everyone feels heard.
  2. Review into the way the council, staff and the public work together.
  3. Create climate action plan.
