Bay of Islands-Whangaroa General Ward
The Far North District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 10 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Three councillors will be elected from the Bay of Islands-Whangaroa ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper.     Explore, fund and implement maritime access opportunities linked to our strategy.

    Support the critical friends group on the masterplan.

  • Get the basics right! Contractor accountability, stop the use of "bandaids" on our roads, and ensure that central government up their game!

    Increase funding for footpaths, cycle lanes and shared paths in our urban areas.

    Masterplan our CBD areas to promote active modes and places for people, and ensure that car parking is in the right place.

  • Implement the long awaited plans for improved unsealed road maintenance.

    Support Northland Transport Alliance (NTA) to develop a seal matrix and supporting business case for traction seals and other sites that don't meet dust matrix criteria.
