Why I'm standing

I am retired but actively involved in both community and high level competitive sport. I have owned a successful small business and been involved with business all my adult life. Next term will be challenging with infrastructure needing massive upgrades, rising inflation and increased interest. Increased Government regulation, will increase costs and impact on our well-being. The city needs business experience, flexibility and good ole' common sense. I want to be part of the solution.

About me

I listen, am unafraid to ask questions and challenge when necessary. I don't claim to have all the answers. My skill has always had had been to actively seek out divergent views and apply critical thinking when looking for solutions. Impossible if you subscribe to a particular ideology or have inflexible pre-conceived ideas. Council staff advise councillors. I'd also consult with wide range of associates and professionals outside of council for best results.

My priorities
  1. Set up community boards giving the people a direct line of communication with councillors.
  2. Review spending – investigate how to get better value for ratepayer dollars across the board.
  3. Continue to protest government's increasing un-consulted regulations imposed on local councils.
