Kaipātiki Local Board

The Kaipātiki Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of eight members. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Support marine recreation by bringing back the pontoon at Island Bay wharf.

    Replace and upgrade signage and maps at reserves so they are fit for purpose, educational and clear.

  • Invest in sport, to ensure club fees are low and facilities are well maintained, continue to improve changing room facilities for all.

    Improve playgrounds, install shade sails, provide more all-access play equipment and more basketball courts.

    Continue to fund Movies in Parks, Santa Parades, ANZAC Parades and Summer/Winter Fun and Heritage Festivals and cultural events.

  • Establish yearly festival at Shepherds Park showcasing cultural community talent, products, food, engaging children with school competitions.

    Subsidised/free sporting leagues and create opportunities – fun days, so no one is disadvantaged and has full access to gain physical literacy.

    Re-establish public debate at community halls, open discussion for community needs – public led.

  • Advocate for the ability for local groups and businesses to be involved commercially and voluntarily in maintaining our public assets.

    Ensure community and sports groups are being heard by council.

    Support local business to provide services directly and resource local community to run events.

  • Support more community events. Matariki and Diwali as examples.

    Support our sporting facilities. Birkenhead Association football to host national tournaments.

    Our community halls are a great asset. I would like to see the upgrade and promotion of these assets.
