Kāpiti Coast District Council

Kāpiti Coast District At Large
The Kāpiti Coast District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 10 councillors and the mayor. This election is for the three councillors elected by all voters in the district. The other councillors will be elected to represent wards (areas in the district). This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Kāpiti Coast District Council election.

Why I'm standing

I hear that people want change. I hear they have had enough of the current system and want to adapt to the challenges of climate change, so we are ready for the future. I have seen our road design go backwards in the last 10 years focused on moving cars not people. I believe Kāpiti is unique yet we fail to make it easy to support different ways of delivering projects.

About me

I have been a resident in Kāpiti for 16 years. I have a broad range of experience from chair of Te Ara Korowai to volunteering at Nga Manu. I established Waikanae Dance School and continue to teach adults and children weekly. I have an economics degree with honours from the UK. I am a chartered transport professional having been chair for the Wellington Regional Committee and sitting on the National Committee of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.

My priorities
  1. Establish a community-led waste management initiative for Waikanae.
  2. Reinstate local public transport services that allow for bus movement between towns.
  3. Reintroduce school travel plan programme.
