Kāpiti Coast District Council

Paraparaumu Ward
The Kāpiti Coast District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 10 councillors and the mayor. Three councillors will be elected from the Paraparaumu ward. The other councillors will be elected from other wards or by all voters in the district. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper.   • Increase consultation with the community and reduce consultation with consultants.

    Return the council to its governance role.

    Ensure that council charges are proportionate to the cost of carrying out these services.

  • Work with new community board and new Paraparaumu councillors, answer questions and give advice to ensure they are up to speed and effective.

    Continue to build the relationship with mana whenua. Give local hapū support to create their local place to stand, unite and grow.

    Work with new chief executive in a supportive manner to ensure positive institutional integration including awareness of our local community dynamics.

  • Councillors must be driven by community feedback and engagement, not by council staff! The culture at KCDC must change.

    Community boards must function as the conduit to ward councillors who in turn take community feed back to the table!

    Stop pushing projects through that do not have community support, with a "we know best" culture! Gateway must be cancelled!
