Kāpiti Coast District Council

Paraparaumu Ward
The Kāpiti Coast District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 10 councillors and the mayor. Three councillors will be elected from the Paraparaumu ward. The other councillors will be elected from other wards or by all voters in the district. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper.     Instigate the integration of all local tourism and art-based businesses into the Kāpiticoastnz website and ensure its promotion.

    Instigate and support the development of business associations in key Paraparaumu localities starting with Paraparaumu beach.

  • I believe council should focus on core infrastructure – parks, potholes, pools, libraries. Anything outside core business must be assessed.

    I don't believe it is a core council responsibility to fund local businesses or local industry. Policy should support but not fund.

    Everything the council does should be in core business. Anything outside that needs to stand up financially or have community support.

  • Stop the Kāpiti Gateway project immediately.

    Negotiate with Paraparaumu Airport's owners regarding the redevelopment to get the optimal outcome for Kāpiti residents.
