Utilities and services
Councils are responsible for a wide range of utilities and services that we all rely on, from rubbish and recycling to street cleaning. Councils are currently also responsible for managing waste water, storm water and drinking water infrastructure – the ‘Three Waters’. But that may be about to change, with central government seeking to shift the delivery of Three Waters services to four new larger entities, which could borrow enough to upgrade the country’s water infrastructure.

Three Waters is mandated by central government. The money we get for the assess must be spent wisely and not wasted! I will not vote for wasteful spend.
I have no policy on animals, dogs, street cleaning, rubbish – this is core operational function. Waikanae green waste closure was a disgrace.
Climate change budget should be spent on green waste and other evidence based initiatives! I vote for evidence based projects not weird stuff
Lobby to streamline rubbish collection and upgrading of resource recovery centre, using Blenheim as an exemplar, regarding 2023 contracts review.
Strong advocacy in Three Watera reform is essential to ensure Paraparaumu is well served by whatever entity delivers these essential services.
Individuals need to take responsibility for their carbon and sustainability footprint. Council needs to enable the ability/awareness to do so.
Resist Three Waters as Kāpiti is already in a good position on water because ratepayers have invested heavily in it over many years.
Investigate long term waste solutions as the current situation is unnecessarily increasing transport emissions.
