Mosgiel-Taieri Community Board

The Mosgiel-Taieri Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Dunedin City Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of six members. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Mosgiel-Taieri Community Board election.

  • Develop strategies to create more meaningful community engagement opportunities to make them more entertaining and inclusive.

    Develop inclusive community engagement pathways to represent all ethnic groups in the community and encourage their voice and leadership.

    Support of further roles within the council to support population growth and our changing requirements.

  • Council must engage and consult with the community before making any major decisions

    We must actively work and nourish our relationship with mana whenua and local iwi.

    More public awareness on referendums and consultation meetings to allow communities to engage and involve in decision making process

  • Bring a positive interaction to the community by the board being accessible and keeping the community informed on its business for growth.

    Engagement is open to all to be able to express their ideas and views with a bimonthly meeting to discuss these ideas and views.

    Work cohesively with the council to bring about more opportunity for citizens to be able to be more part of the community.

  • Engage with our community on a regular basis to get their ideas.

    Encourage our community to attend community board meetings.

  • Address the dysfunctional relationship between the Dunedin City Council and the Mosgiel-Taieri Community Board which is currently failing both the Taieri and Dunedin.

    Pressure the Dunedin City Council to stop wasting money on 'trials' and 'pilot programs' when the same result could be achieved from community consultation.

    Ensure that the Taieri receives its share of council funding, acknowledging the huge growth of the Taieri and the previous neglect.
