Taradale Ward
The Napier City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 12 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). Four councillors will be elected from the Taradale ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Establish more community-like festivals to encourage more community participation and to support local business.

  • Actually get strategic core asset investment started – war memorial, aquatic centre, library, aquarium etc - through better decision-making.

  • Promote the Mitre 10 sports park and Pettigrew Arena as regional facilities.

    Find a solution to the long standing issue of aquatic facilities for Napier and ensure that it fits to a regional aquatic strategy.

    Promote McLean Park as an international facility that can be used for all types of events, not just sporting.

  • Make all our public facilities accessible for disabled and elderly people and their families. This includes accessible toilets and parking.
