Palmerston North City Council
The Palmerston North City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 15 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). 13 councillors will be elected from the Te Hirawanui ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing
I believe I have the skills, intelligence and attitude that will allow me to make a strong positive difference for our city, allowing me to make a meaningful contribution that will improve the lives of the many others in our community, especially in this time where so many people are troubled and unhappy due to situations I see as being sidelined when they could be relatively easily resolved or improved with the right approach.
About me
I have spent my life observing the many issues in our everyday lives while finding it relatively easy to see why those situations are there while also being able to come up with options towards resolving or improving them. I have studied the many faces of hate/intolerance and am aware of the many multi-layered reasons why they exist/persist while having a strong perception of the education changes required to positively improve social attitudes over time.
My priorities
- Create a system for individuals to directly voice their issues/needs/ideas to council and be heard.
- Create a system for Individuals/youth to evolve strengths/skills and be paired with best opportunities.
- Create social education streams to educate individuals to be internally confident and independent.
