The Waihoro Spreydon-Cashmere-Heathcote Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Christchurch City Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of nine members: six members elected by voters, including two members from your area, and three councillors from the Christchurch City council. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Advocate for events and city-wide advertising campaigns to encourage residents and visitors to support local businesses.

    Remove barriers for sole traders and creative entrepreneurs to begin and continue to do business.

  • Encourage economic policy which is productive, sustainable and inclusive. We need a long term for the future not just the next three years

    Encourage new opportunities to expand career pathways for our youth as well work based opportunities. Our youth are or future.

    Promote buy local. Facilitate and encourage local tourism as regional tourism contributes to both local and national economic development.

  • Promote and support local businesses to thrive in, and provide for, their local communities. Positive flow on for employment and tourism.

    Identify and deal with empty disused spaces that can be repurposed for businesses and community projects. Empty buildings have a negative impact.

    Provide guidance to council on local infrastructure priorities. Follow the projects through to ensure they are complete in a timely manner.

  • Use my skills as a Crown Research Institute business development manager working with industry to ensure good decisions are made by the board and by council.

    Support small business development by having suburban strip shopping areas converted to people-friendly village centres like new Woolston.

    Ensure transport needs for industrial traffic are well catered for by quality road and rail linkages that avoid rat running in living areas.
