The Waitai Coastal-Burwood-Linwood Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Christchurch City Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of nine members: six members elected by voters, including two members from your area, and three councillors from the Christchurch City council. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Support the implementation of the Lower Ōpāwaho Heathcote River Guidance Plan.

    Support an increase of (appropriate) tree coverage to 50% across the city, starting with areas like ours where tree coverage is low.

    Support Predator-Free Port Hills and the protection of pockets of native biodiversity that remain in urban Christchurch.

  • Water quality and preservation: The community should be involved to see how water affects our health and what should be done to improve it.

    Waste minimisation and management: Every three months free waste and garbage collection to help rate payers.

    Biodiversity and pest control: More qualified people should be employed in this section so that the service in this area is good.

  • Continue to advocate for the Opawaho Lower Heathcote Guidance Plan leading to environmental gains in water quality, biodiversity and usage.
