The Waitai Coastal-Burwood-Linwood Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Christchurch City Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of nine members: six members elected by voters, including two members from your area, and three councillors from the Christchurch City council. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Whether public transport is the responsibility of the regional or local council depends on where you are in the country. Local councils also own 87% of New Zealand’s roads.

  • Repair and renew roads and footpaths in areas that have been particularly neglected, such as Bromley and North Linwood.

    Reduce heavy vehicles on residential streets through calming measures and intersection improvements, e.g. traffic lights on Maces/Dyers.

    Ensure cycle-ways are delivered in a way that works for local communities, through meaningful consultation and smart route selection.

  • Demand improved roading and footpath repairs and rebuilding in Linwood, Bromley and Woolston. Ensure Christchurch Regeneration Acceleration Facility (CRAF) and Bromley projects are executed.

    Improve road safety by strategic use of slower speeds, traffic calming and rerouting. Demand lights on Maces Road/Dyers Road intersection.

    Advocate for improvement to public transport in the area including the reinstatement of cancelled bus services in Woolston and Bromley.

  • Public Transport: Regular bus service to all areas taking care of passengers and drivers all time.
