Why I'm standing

I want to contribute to making the Waitākere Ranges local board area the best place to live and visit in Auckland. I want to make sure that everyone who lives here thrives as part of resilient, connected communities. I have lived and worked in Titirangi for thirty years, and I when I left my role as a school principal, I was asked by many people if I would stand for the local board.

About me

I have considerable experience, skills and passion to bring to the role. I was a school principal, a lifeguard, a champion of Enviroschools; I am currently a member of a Health NZ consumer experience council and a clinical ethics advisory group. My life has been committed to building and nurturing strong communities, from growing a school community with a reputation for inclusion and upholding diversity, to local residents' groups, environmental groups and sports teams.

My priorities
  1. Champion the Waitākere Ranges Heritage Area as a taonga to be protected but actively enjoyed by all.
  2. Push back strongly in local government reforms – we need stronger local boards working for locals.
  3. Deliver cycleways and walkways that connect and work well and smaller buses to outer areas like Piha.
