Why I'm standing

Wellington must change. We are facing unprecedented problems. 88% of people are not happy, rates are forecast to double and $20 billion of your money is to be spent mostly on things that the people don't even need or want. I don't want a city where my children don't want to live here, we've gone from 4th to 50th in the world. The council must change to bring in people with new skills and experiences.

About me

I live in Evans Bay with my wife Christina, our daughter and our two dogs. I am a small business owner/operator, a trained economist, and a former National Party Member of Parliament. I moved here ten years ago after the Christchurch Earthquakes. I volunteered at Wellington Zoo for two years and with my daughter's Community Creche. Previously I worked overseas for major corporations and governments. I started my career at the Ministry of Transport and the Treasury.

My priorities
  1. Stop the bad spending and do the basics right now like pipes not in five years. Exit bad investments.
  2. Let's get Wellington moving by bus mass transit and two tunnels.
  3. Stop out of control rates rises and greater use of long term debt 30+ years to invest in new things.
