Wellington City Council

Motukairangi/Eastern General Ward
The Wellington City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 15 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). Three councillors will be elected from the Motukairangi/Eastern ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Wellington City Council election.

Why I'm standing

I'm running because I love this city, but I'm concerned about the future of Wellington. We currently don't have enough houses to support our growing population and a council that neglects some of our most basic necessities. I'm standing to provide a fresh voice and a push for progress for both the eastern suburbs and our capital city!

About me

As both someone with management experience and as a student that's reliant on the services provided by the council, I understand the value of evidence-based decision-making and real community knowledge. I am active in the community, as a member of the Miramar and Maupuia Community Centre board, as a volunteer and as a resident. My blend of management experience alongside my position as a young person and student will provide a fresh perspective.

My priorities
  1. Urgently repair our water infrastructure.
  2. Improve transport for all by incentivising public transport use and fixing congestion chokepoints.
  3. Ensure that council spends wisely.
