Wellington City Council

Motukairangi/Eastern General Ward
The Wellington City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 15 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). Three councillors will be elected from the Motukairangi/Eastern ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Wellington City Council election.

Why I'm standing

I believe we are lucky to live in such a nice city but we have some real challenges ahead. I am concerned that the city is becoming to expensive and unaffordable for many people. Many people feel they are not being engaged with properly by the council, hence low participation. I would like to contribute to solving those issues and working with a team that is committed to making Wellington the best it can be.

About me

I have always actively contributed to the community through sport, charity, work and volunteer work. I have served as a Justice of the Peace for the last twenty years as a volunteer. I hold a masters degree in Business Administration and have the work experience and life experience to contribute meaningfully and make a difference. I live and work in the local area and know many of the issues that affect people.

My priorities
  1. Ensuring there is good, reliable and affordable public transport with the supporting infrastructure.
  2. Ensure the large council debt is controlled and rate rise kept to a minimum.
  3. Plan for climate change and future-proof the city for water supply and civil emergencies.
