Why I'm standing

I am 73 years of age and a 5th generation West Coaster. My ancestors helped build the harbours on the Coast. I am a past County Councillor with 30 years of experience in judicial law. I spent 18 years in business before its demise due to the effects of globalization. I am a retired photojournalist, and like my ancestors, I want to leave the next generation of Coasters a better place to live and play.

About me

As a young lad growing up on our farm at Carters Beach, holidays were spent raising funds for the Carters Beach Hall. In later years I continued community involvement on the Domain Board, Golf Club, A and P Show, Christmas Parades, Westport Whitebait Festival, Westport Rotary for 38 years, School Reunion committees, LandSAR for 20 years, Chief Warden Civil Defence, Trustee Coaltown, St John Volunteer, and JP for 30 years. I became a County Councillor in 1978.

My priorities
  1. To offer sound judgment in my decision-making as part of a team working together for all concerned.
  2. The amalgamation of four councils into one, while retaining the present election of three coast mayors.
  3. Be more proactive than reactive. Learn from the past, and look to the future for answers.
