West Coast Regional Council

Buller Constituency
The West Coast Regional Council makes decisions about managing resources in the region, such as air, water, soil and the coastline. It also carries out plant and pest control, helps prepare for natural disasters, and is involved in regional transport. The council is made up of seven councillors. Councillors are elected to represent constituencies (areas in the region). Two councillors will be elected from the Buller constituency. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the West Coast Regional Council election.

Why I'm standing

I want to be elected to make a difference. Too many warnings have been ignored, too much advice filed and forgotten through the lack of someone with nous to drive important issues to a successful conclusion.

About me

I care about my community. Six generations of my family have lived in Westport since its beginning when my gg uncle signed the Westport Borough Council Empowering Act which created the town. I care that it has suffered so badly due to neglect and want to introduce some common sense to make a difference. A change must be made, we do not want more of the same.

My priorities
  1. My first priority is to get elected so that I can make a difference.
  2. That flood mitigation options for the Buller River are fully explored and sensible options chosen.
  3. To ensure West Coast Regional Council adopt a policy for answering their mail so ratepayers do not continue to be ignored.
