Hurunui District Council

South Ward
The Hurunui District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of ten councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). four councillors will be elected from the South ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. I am a person that sees a problem and acts. My experience in national governance roles has given me the skills to navigate complex issues, make sound decisions and ensure accountability. I bring deep roots and a strong understanding of our community's history, values and challenges.

My priorities
  1. Ensure growth brings opportunity and does not leave locals worse off, and ensure community infrastructure grows.
  2. Work with the parties concerned to ensure safe roads and a safe community.
  3. Prioritise youth and young people as they are our future.
