South Ward
The Hurunui District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of ten councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). four councillors will be elected from the South ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

I aspire to continue to play an active role in promoting the further connecting and increasing well-being of people and shaping our diverse, growing, developing and changing community into the future. I want to help people, to meet the needs of our residents while maintaining our unique Hurunui environment. I want Hurunui to be the best it can be – where we look after our people, harmonise with our environment, progress and prosper.

About me

As a current councillor, I bring proven experience, commitment and current knowledge of Hurunui District and key issues facing us. I have hindsight, insight and foresight. I offer enthusiasm, positivity, innovation, connectivity, practicality, family outlook, business knowledge, 31 years varied educational experience, effective communication, time management, prioritisation and organisational ability, empathy, resilience, financial prudence, willingness to listen and appreciate others' viewpoints and a passion for youth, biodiversity and environment. My driving force is helping people.

My priorities
  1. Ensure sensible rates and spending which enables resilient core infrastructure and essential services.
  2. Listen to residents to establish needs and priorities in order to enhance well-being for all. Engage!
  3. Promote growth which is appropriate, sustainable, affordable and supported by adequate infrastructure.
