Change Mt Eden/Albert zone to have odd number of elected members. So often there has been a stalemate of 4/4 which is disruptive to progress.
Make sure all decisions are made following proper consultation with neighbours.
Ensure our neighbourhood is a vibrant, multi-cultural place to live.
Nurture trust in the public sphere by challenging the current hierarchical structure in engagement.
Challenge and advocate within our local democracy where economic disparities are addressed that impact current voter turnout.
Accommodate proactive community planning to form a collective of community desires for future actions.
Ensure that decisions are considering various intersections of the community, ie mana whenua, youth, elderly, disabled, migrants, low-waged.
Regularly liaise with constituents ie public consultations, attend community events, media relationships.
Abolish postal voting, ie make having a say in democracy mandatory or run voting booths akin to central government elections.
Promote equal opportunity between ethnic groups. I do not support the push to iwi having a greater influence. Keep the K in kiwis uniting.
Stop council wage increases. Upper levels should be performance based on meeting and reducing budget expenditure.
Reduce the size of council. I believe in small governance and minimum intrusion into small business. Council is a parasite on rate payers.
Ensure all voices are represented at the decision-making table.
Advocate for a non-postal voting system to raise voter turnout.
Work with the Albert-Eden Youth Board to reach out to young people and ensure they are represented in local board affairs.
Ensure that community feedback, is in fact that. Not just niche groups with agendas. All people should be heard and valued.
A new customer service approach that better values resident and local business needs and puts them at the heart of Auckland Council services.
