Albert-Eden Local Board
The Albert-Eden Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of eight members. Members are elected to represent different subdivisions within the local board area. Four members will be elected from your area. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing
I'm standing because we need local government to play a leading role in climate action. I'm focused on ensuring the local board listens to a diversity of voices, supports community resilience and helps to build a city where it's easy to live a low-carbon lifestyle. The local board has a crucial role to play in supporting safer, greener transport options, strong community networks and a thriving natural environment for a resilient Albert-Eden.
About me
I'm a lifelong Albert-Eden resident, and in my first term, I've used my local knowledge and research background to dig into plans and documents and make sure I have the information to make good decisions. I've built relationships across political lines to get things done for the community. I've established links to community and environmental groups across our rohe, and I'm committed to seeking out and listening to the voices of our whole community.
My priorities
- Improve transport infrastructure to make low-emission transport a realistic option.
- Increase the tree canopy to sequester carbon and mitigate the urban heat island effect.
- Build relationships with mana whenua to involve them as partners in future planning.
