Reduce council's emissions; promote and use sustainable energy sources in council owned buildings and facilities and lead by example.

Adopt a climate change action plan for the rohe – including increased community education on climate change and how to decrease emissions.

Investigate creating rates rebates programme to encourage households lower emissions by becoming more energy-friendly.

Consider renewable energy options for key facilities such as Levin Aquatic Centre and treatment plants.

Seek solutions to manage increased rainfall to minimise or prevent flooding and erosion.

Ensure action to undertake earthquake strengthening on council-owned at-risk buildings or replacement options.

Prioritise use of lowest emission options in all council funded activities and support making low emission options publicly accessible.

My aim will be to at least meet all climate change reduction targets, but preferably to exceed all of those targets.

Forward-thinking will be required to ensure the supply of water to our population and to protect our region from potential flooding.

My background in risk management places me well to critique and adapt our present civil defence systems.
