Rodney Local Board

Kumeū Subdivision
The Rodney Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of nine members. Members are elected to represent different subdivisions within the local board area. Four members will be elected from your area. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Continue to implement actions from the Kumeū Huapai Centre Plan.

    Provide a public toilet in Waimauku.

    Complete the Helensville and Warkworth Town Centre improvements plans.

  • Make town centres, parks, and facilities fit for the future.

    Support partnerships between government agencies, business, iwi, and communities to find smarter ways of working together.

    Oppose further release of green fields sites until sufficient public transport and roading upgrades are completed.

  • Streamline the building consent process, supporting changes to the RMA that reduce cost and save time.

    Subsidise the deliver of drinking water to rural homes during drought.

  • Protect Rodney from urban sprawl by upgrading zoning controls. Preserve Rodney's rural lifestyle, discourage high-intensity development.

    Strengthen consent and code requirements to ensure house quality against future slums. Plan for village-scale, child-friendly communities.

    Support low-intensity affordable housing. Purge policies for urban-style development. Plan healthy, sane, local-directed growth. Localism!

  • Ensure we have the infrastructure to support more houses, before they are built, as Auckland expands.

    Support a park and ride option for future growth in Kumeū, however only sensible and practical options will be looked at and considered.

    Work together with developers instead of against each other to provide better outcomes for everyone!

  • Reduce council red tape around building consents for individuals.

    Take a common sense approach to rezoning for high-density housing so as not to destroy the rural beauty and overload infrastructure.

    Make large housing developers responsible for ensuring there is sufficient infrastructure to support increased population/car pressure.

  • Reduce further urban sprawl at every opportunity. Rodney needs more infrastructure, roading, public transport and community facilities.

  • Identify areas of greatest predicted growth and look at planning in those areas sympathetically to existing dwellings.

    Investigate solutions to alleviate flooding in flood-prone areas already developed.

    Prevent further building in areas known for flooding issues without good preventative planning.
