Rodney Local Board

Kumeū Subdivision
The Rodney Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of nine members. Members are elected to represent different subdivisions within the local board area. Four members will be elected from your area. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Support partnerships between government agencies, business, iwi, and communities to find smarter ways working together.

    Ensure Rodney gets its fair share of regional spending.

  • Support and engage with local residents and ratepayer groups.

    Participate in Auckland Council and Rodney Local Board Consultation and Have Your Say activities.

    Encourage local community groups to make deputations or presentations to Rodney Local Board.

  • Interact with all residents on Facebook and social media.

    Be available for public meetings and community events to discuss local issues.

  • Hold Rodney Local Board meetings in Huapai and Warkworth allowing locals to attend meetings.

    Investigate opportunities to work with iwi, government and other agencies to improve the Kaipara Harbour.

    Encourage community initiatives for environmental sustainability.

  • Improve communications to establish better two-way dialogue with residents, taking feedback/suggestions, and sharing news and information.

    Ensure effective expenditure by council and local board, seeking value and results from funding and investments.

  • Pay council staff better for their skilled knowledge. In a tight labour market quality advice is vital.

    Advocate against restructuring at Council seven years, eight restructures either department or whole council. Restructuring costs money and productivity.

    Clearer engagement with the wider Māori community to ensure actual needs are being met.

  • Empower community groups to do what they do best. They know what needs to be done and they should be supported more.

    Be more inclusive of our growing and changing demographics within our communities.

    Advocate for a secondary school in the Kumeū area.

  • Introduce binding referenda on three key topics twice yearly, so representatives follow the people's directions. Declare one law for all.

    Provide equal representation, reject all race-based and separatist co-governance proposals. Reject UN-derived global policies and projects.

    Localism first rules all council policies and priorities. Accountable to ratepayers. Localism rejects He Puapua, Three Waters dictatorship.

    Encourage equality of access to council for all and ensure total transparency of council decisions and actions.
