Rodney Local Board

Kumeū Subdivision
The Rodney Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of nine members. Members are elected to represent different subdivisions within the local board area. Four members will be elected from your area. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Develop infrastructure, such as sealed roads and footpaths for areas growing and needing greater connection and support.

    Support better urban design in Kumeū to encourage more foot traffic to existing and future businesses affected by traffic congestion and COVID-19.

    Incentivise larger businesses like film studios to use Rodney and build studios in places like Helensville.

  • Support local initiatives for employment, especially innovation and value-added projects. Advocate rural business development co-operatives.

    Link Rodney to national initiatives, eg aquaculture, forestry, value-added initiatives to stimulate productivity from natural resources.

    Promote local tourist projects strategically with national 'package' initiatives. Plan self-sufficient localism for long-term stability.

  • Work with local business to encourage a "buy local" mindset in the community and increase awareness of available local services.

    Work towards minimal disruption for local business by major infrastructure construction.

  • Complete safety improvements for our rural villages.

    Support community recycling initiatives through the Helensville Community Recycling Centre.

    Guide and connect communities with council to advance local projects.

  • There is major concerns around a targeted rate for commercial property owners in the area and where the money is spent

    Business owners rely on customers and as we are rural and urban car parking space near the businesses are absolutely vital.

    Tourism is important in Rodney as we have some of Aucklands finest beaches and reserves, access to those public spaces is non negotiable

  • Advocate for the rezoning of suitable land in the NW to increase employment in the area.

    Work towards a solution for traffic congestion by continuing to advocate to NZ Transport Agency and central government.

    Support partnerships between government agencies, business, iwi, and communities to find smarter ways of working together.

  • Support local business, including the impact to businesses by funding and decision making.

    Support unemployed youth into opportunities to gain experience within Rodney by incentivising local businesses and community groups.

  • As the chair of the local business association, I want to see strong support for our local businesses.

    Continue township improvements and walkways to create great places to work, shop and spend time.

  • Support the Business Improvement District programmes in Kumeū and Warkworth.
