Rodney Local Board

Warkworth Subdivision
The Rodney Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of nine members. Members are elected to represent different subdivisions within the local board area. Three members will be elected from your area. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Climate change and resilience

Climate change poses a huge challenge for communities as more frequent extreme weather events require us to rethink how we live and where. Local authorities are at the forefront of efforts to respond, with responsibilities for environmental planning and regulation, as well as civil defence. Many councils have plans to reduce emissions in their area and are working to help their communities adapt to a warming world.

    Provide funding for a community emergency resilience plan and mitigation of flood hazards.

    Trial new bus services using smaller vehicles. With the aim to provide a more efficient and well-utilised public transport service.

  • Urban Warkworth needs good clean drinking water that does not taste like chemicals. We need to safeguard our rural communities.

    A comprehensive conservation strategy is needed. One that's practical and not off on the latest environmental tangent.

    Support building an all weather multipurpose recreation and sports facility and community swimming pool, with a bike and skate park.

  • Advocate for sensible town and rural planning to ensure communities are resilient for any climate change effects, eg avoid flood plains.
