Rodney Local Board

Warkworth Subdivision
The Rodney Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of nine members. Members are elected to represent different subdivisions within the local board area. Three members will be elected from your area. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Helping communities get from A to B is a key responsibility of local government, from making sure the buses run on time to providing car parking and walking and cycling paths. Whether public transport is the responsibility of the regional or local council depends on where you are in the country. Local councils also own 87% of New Zealand’s roads.

  • Prioritise the sealing of gravel roads and improved road maintenance for the safety of all road users.

    Advocate that equivalent funds from the targeted roading rate are invested in roads and investigate if the diversion of funds was legal.

    Consult with community on public transport, walkways and cycleways to ensure efficient and effective use of any funding into these areas.

  • Provide flexible and reliable transport options. Including parking, cycling, walking, and horse riding networks.

    Together with the support of our councillor, advocate strongly for improved roads and maintenance standards.

    Make roads through busy villages safer by using the Local Board Transport Capital Fund for road safety improvements.

  • Keep our public transport costs low and have regular access to buses that support our working population who work outside of Warkworth.

    Campaign for better bus routes, if feasible, within Warkworth to support our younger and older population who cannot drive.
