Rodney Local Board

Warkworth Subdivision
The Rodney Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of nine members. Members are elected to represent different subdivisions within the local board area. Three members will be elected from your area. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Utilities and services

Councils are responsible for a wide range of utilities and services that we all rely on, from rubbish and recycling to street cleaning. Councils are currently also responsible for managing waste water, storm water and drinking water infrastructure – the ‘Three Waters’. But that may be about to change, with central government seeking to shift the delivery of Three Waters services to four new larger entities, which could borrow enough to upgrade the country’s water infrastructure.

  • Advocate for improved waste minimisation and disposal methods used for any residual waste.

    Identify and advocate to protect important water resources in our area, for now and future generations.

    Advocate to repeal the proposed rates-based waste collection. Not being able to opt out of this set bin charge does not promote recycling.

  • Warkworth needs clean drinking water that doesn't taste like chemicals and adequate water to safeguard our rural communities.

    Ensure new developments pay their share of development contributions for providing the additional infrastructure created by their development.

  • Ensure services are in place before development occurs, eg water and sewerage is not an after thought.

    Maintain a pragmatic and supportive approach to off lead dog walking by-laws.

    Ensure boating facilities are well maintained and affordable for the local community.
