Why I'm standing
Local democracy needs people who are brave and committed to making the right decisions for the long-term benefit of our community rather than the popular and palatable ones that serve immediate, short-term interests. I want to continue the work I have started in my first term and help make our region the best it can be for everyone now and in the future.
About me
I wholeheartedly believe that many solutions already exist within our community. My skill is to build collaboration, trust and action between necessary parties to make things happen. In my first term I have delivered on my promises to clean up Kaiwharawhara Stream and Houghton Bay's polluted waterways, increase public ownership of public transport including 18 new trains and achieve Living Wage accreditation for GWRC.
My priorities
- Deliver public transport that is more affordable, frequent, fast and reliable.
- Keep the harbour and beaches swimmable by restoring urban streams, rivers and wetlands.
- Build a climate-resilient city with nature-based solutions and high-quality public infrastructure.
