The Waitai Coastal-Burwood-Linwood Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Christchurch City Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of nine members: six members elected by voters, including Two members from your area, and three members from the Christchurch City council. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Identify and advocate for targeted projects to improve the health of local streams.

    Promote any joint Christchurch City Council and Environment Canterbury clean-air heating schemes to eligible local households.

    Work with council staff and the community to clean up and prevent illegal dumping.

  • Continue to push for a future-proofed wastewater treatment plant, reducing emissions and stormwater overflows into rivers.

    Continue to support the roll-out of the Lower Heathcote implementation plan, with planting and infrastructure improvements.

    Support the use of tree pits along residential streets to increase street amenity and native tree coverage to complement the urban forest plan.

  • Consider the environmental impact of all projects in the Waitai area.

    Continue to advocate for people living on the residential and industrial fringe when experiencing effects from industry, eg smell, noise and dust.

    Work with local groups to support the health of the Heathcote River and associated wildlife.
