Wānaka-Upper Clutha Community Board

The Wānaka-Upper Clutha Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Queenstown-Lakes District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of four members. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Support higher density in Wānaka CBD area, lower number of available short-term stay accommodation and increase availability for aged people.

    Support community use of open green space for gathering, make better use of council-owned buildings for arts, homelessness and extend libraries.

    Support developers providing affordable housing of at least 5% of every development and ensure development contributions are returned.

  • Protect green space in the urban area.

    Provide continued support for the Queenstown Lakes Community Housing Trust.

    Support density of residential living around commercial areas and transport hubs.

  • Support carefully located urban intensification for efficient land use and services provision, and progress the town centre masterplan.

    Support council’s spatial plan and district plan to protect our outstanding natural landscapes and encourage well-planned urban growth.

    Support inclusionary housing funding or similar to help fund Queenstown Housing Trust to provide more affordable housing options.
