Why I'm standing

Having lived 40 years in Tauranga, our region desperately needs a new strategy other than merely repeating 1960s road-dependent outmoded urban sprawl. Missing is a visionary approach taking us into the 21st century in line with world's best cities. Why wait till 2050 when we already know there are better ways of doing things (covered in my "Omni-Solution 2021/2022" submissions.) Roading blowout $1.2 billion, still congestion, more emissions. ZERO money for real rail transit solutions. Directional change overdue!

About me

I have observed council's blind adherence to failing smart growth policies, an outdated unsustainable long-term plan, all leading to a repeat of Auckland's traffic nightmare. This constitutes an impending logistic disaster, a liability costing billions, accelerating climate destabilisation, and does little for housing, access, social equity or community convenience. This must be turned around. Over the past 50 years, gradual conditioning to a consumerist economy has seriously increased waste/plastics and overwhelming pollution which must be curtailed

My priorities
  1. Make Tauranga CBD a prime (rail) destination hub for city main arterial/inter-city thoroughfares.
  2. Build Tauranga Central Rail Station for inter-city and suburban light rail looped to Pyes Pa.
  3. Invest in convenient access from residential housing to transit points along arterial backbone route.
