Why I'm standing

I came to live here in Tauranga in 1956. I am passionate about our beautiful city and region. With major changes ahead with central government reforms proposed in Three Waters, resource management and local government, I believe my experience in central government and the city council over the past 20 years equips me to serve you in this city and the region. I am familiar with the complexities of governance of local authorities and managing large budgets.

About me

Given how much attention is given to climate change and CO2 reduction I think you should know that for the past five years I have been driving a Toyota Prius PHEV which I charge regularly with the solar panels I have had on my house for the past six years. I also strongly supported the new rubbish collection when I was deputy mayor of Tauranga City Council that has now reduced our waste to landfill by 50%.

My priorities
  1. Air and water are essential to life. Council needs to strive to do better in both these. Policy 5,8.
  2. For too long there has much wasted trying to fix our public transport. We can do better. Policy 19.
  3. There must be greater benefit from the public assets managed on our behalf by the council. Policy 17.
