Bay of Plenty Regional Council

Tauranga Constituency
The Bay of Plenty Regional Council makes decisions about managing resources in the region, such as air, water, soil and the coastline. It also carries out plant and pest control, helps prepare for natural disasters, and is involved in regional transport. The council is made up of 14 councillors. Councillors are elected to represent constituencies (areas in the region). Five councillors will be elected from the Tauranga constituency. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

I stand for future forward thinking and strategic planning 10 to 50 years to protect the environment for future generations. I aspire to help enable a world-class decarbonised multi-modal public transport network of buses/trains/ferries/cycleways/walkways. I am passionate about pursuing quality and excellence for our community. Your voice matters. I can make informed decisions quickly and decisively. I am a good reader and have good comprehension skills. I can provide strong governance for council.

About me

I have personal qualities of self initiative, integrity, passion and enthusiasm to make Tauranga and the Bay of Plenty a better place. I am a Registered Architect NZRAB with 25 years of experience, member of the Institute of Directors, previous board member of the Tauranga Art Gallery Trust, previous NZIA New Zealand Institute of Architects elected member for Hamilton City Council Urban Design Panel. I am not a member of any political party.

My priorities
  1. Enable multi-modal transport network – safe/frequent/reliable/accessible that provides multiple options.
  2. Ensure environmental sustainability and protection of earth/water/air for future generations.
  3. Together we can create change. Aspiring for quality and excellence. A voice for the people.
