Why I'm standing

Council needs someone with common sense. Yes, the environment needs to be clear of from pollution and overuse, and we should be careful around natural habitats. But people need to be able to live, work and play here as well. Common sense says we have to keep rates affordable. We have to check for unintended consequences before following fuzzy ideas. I will bring that common sense to council.

About me

As CEO of Stellaris Ltd, I help organisations develop their strategies. I've worked with large businesses and small charities. I have Chartered Membership of the Institute of Directors. Experience includes Deputy Chair of the DHB, Chair of Supported Individualised Lifestyle Choices Charitable Trust and Chair of Suzanne Aubert School Establishment Board. I have degrees in economics, history and geography, meaning that I am not one-eyed but able to look at decisions more broadly. I understand financials.

My priorities
  1. Common sense decision making. Decisions need to look for unintended consequences.
  2. Healthy people in a healthy environment. Don't forget people when we talk of the environment.
  3. Sustainable economic development. Provide support rather than get in the way of great ideas.
