Why I'm standing

My vision is that the Greater Wellington Region can be an exemplar in the world for its policies on climate change, environmental management and public transport, and that will require bold and innovative leadership at the governance level. Through my experience as New Zealand's Secretary for the Environment, and my roles in the last two terms on Greater Wellington Regional Council, I can continue to deliver the results to help the Greater Wellington Regional Council achieve that vision.

About me

In last three years as Chair of Greater Wellington Regional Council Transport Committee I have led council's delivery of major results including 83 new electric buses, Ika Rere electric ferry and new electric Airport Express bus service, increasing wages and conditions of bus drivers, and innovations like Tawa trial of Public Transport on Demand. I have held chief executive positions in Ministry for the Environment, Department of Internal Affairs and Porirua City Council. I am born and bred Wellingtonian.

My priorities
  1. Deliver Greater Wellington Regional Council's target in 2019 Declaration of Climate Emergency to net zero carbon emissions by 2030.
  2. Deliver affordable and reliable public transport, and bed in contract fully electric bus fleet by 2030.
  3. Deliver environmental action to eliminate pests and enhance biodiversity, and protect freshwater bodies.
