Why I'm standing

I believe our region has made a number of improvements towards public transport being more accessible for people such as myself. However there are huge gaps where public transport is not fully accessible and unable to be used independently and with confidence. With an aging population and where 25% of us identify as having a disability it is essential that we plan ahead, and implement networks and systems that leave no-one behind.

About me

I have lived and worked in Wellington for over 30 years. I have managed a number of support services, I am a trustee of a not-for-profit organisation and I am actively involved in the local community including with disabled people's organisations. I have represented New Zealand at an international level and locally have been recognised for my contributions initiatives around safer streets and smarter cities for all.

My priorities
  1. Ensure all public transport is fully accessible for all those who need/want to use it.
  2. Prioritise initiatives that will contribute to reducing greenhouse gases and our carbon footprint.
  3. Strengthen regional council Accessibility Charter – the voice of disabled people must be present and reflected.
