Why I'm standing

I'm running in this election as I'm a strong advocate for protection and restoration of our natural environment not only for Auckland but for our special taonga, the Hauraki Gulf. I believe in more 'green spaces' for us to enjoy plus we must continue the 'war on exotic pests' that are killing our native species. I acknowledge that climate change is real and we must take steps to protect our City for future generations.

About me

I have sailed the Hauraki Gulf for 50 years and have seen a dramatic decline in fish stocks, reef systems and an increase in sedimentation. I chaired the GIFT committee at Foundation North where we gave out 11 million dollars for research and restoration to the Hauraki Gulf. I Chair the Opito Bay Ratepayers Assoc. We convinced the Government to protect 500,000 Ha of the Gulf from scallop harvesting until stocks recover.

My priorities
  1. We need to revitalise the city centre. Attract people back to make the city centre more vibrant.
  2. Create a safe environment for citizens to enjoy the inner city.
  3. Ensure Auckland City becomes a 'beacon' for environmental sustainability for all its citizens.
